The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) has decided to launch a microsite on its official website, where distressed realtors can register their complaints against the development authorities. The regulatory authority has analysed that the maximum cases pertain to delays in approvals of maps and incomplete civic infrastructure around projects, which affect their timely completion, thus causing trouble to homebuyers.
RERA primarily looks into disputes between builders and buyers; however, it has often been questioned on its role in resolving complaints of promoters pertaining to authorities. Industrial and development authorities are responsible for issuing certificates of completion and developing basic amenities and infrastructure in any given area; however, any interruption in these can derail the completion of a project.
Rajive Kumar, Chairperson, UPRERA, avers, “As the progress of a project is impacted by procedural delays, we have decided to create a dedicated platform for builders on the main website of UPRERA where they can share their grievances. We will then take them up with the State development authorities and mediate between the promoter and the civic bodies.”
Industry experts aver that the move will be partly beneficial as RERA needs to be given the power to take necessary action against the concerned authorities.
