The Pune-Bangalore Expressway will pass through nine districts in Karnataka, including Bengaluru Rural, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Vijayanagar, Koppal, Gadag, Bagalkot, and Belgaum. In Maharashtra, it will cover Sangli, Satara, and Pune.

Construction of the Pune-Bangalore Expressway is expected to start soon and is planned for completion by 2028. The NHAI is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the expressway. Once the DPR is ready, land acquisition and other initial tasks will begin.

The expressway is planned as an 8-lane highway for smooth traffic flow. The estimated cost of construction is more than Rs 50,000 crore. The expressway project comes under the Bharat Mala Pariyojana. It will be an alternative to NH-48, ensuring faster connectivity.

Once completed, the project will significantly reduce travel time between Pune and Bangalore. The current travel duration of 15 hours will be reduced to just seven hours, with vehicles allowed at the maximum speed of 120 km per hour.

The expressway will include six Road Over Bridges (ROBs), 22 interchanges, 55 flyovers, and 14 crossings for national and State highways. It will pass through underdeveloped regions of Karnataka and drought-ridden areas of Maharashtra, benefitting the residents with better connectivity and trade opportunities.

The Pune-Bangalore Expressway is set to transform the residential and commercial real estate markets in nearby regions with improved connectivity and related infrastructure.
